An appropriately epic conclusion to a solid run. I always like to see Jay in action, plus we got Max Mercury too! Makes we want to go read the 90s Impulse run.
We covered this in our end of year episode of Comic Book Coffee Break: https://previously-on-x-men.libsyn.com/comic-book-coffee-break-giant-sized-annual-2

It was a great ending to Williamson’s run with the Flash. It was quite a big one. These days, writers don’t last a year in book. Over a hundred issues must be record somewhere.
His run had its ups and downs, but his love for the Flash and his legacy was evident. This last story was a swan song to the entire Flash Family, and yes, it definitely had to include the Reverse Flash.
The story had its twists and hooks that kept me completely addicted to it. I don’t know how managed to follow it those who read it month after month. I just had to go through the entire thing, all at once.
My deep appreciation goes to Williamson, and the myriad of artists that gave life to the different stories. It was such a fun run.

Gah. How can anyone read this without their eyes bleeding? Williamson is terrible on the flash.

Flash is my favourite superhero of all time, but his stand alone comics never really gets me to the hype I get from his appearances with the justice league, in the events comics. That being said, I did like most of the ending, all of the beginning, some of the fights, but always found it lacking something... I knew that flash can't lose and that took a lot of fun out of it, even in the ending he could've lost a bit more. The change in the Flash mindset at the end felt so sudden and rushed, I needed more explanation and less running... running in comics is not as fun, let them talk more without making us get bored from the action-less pages, its a fine line but that what make a great flash comic, and for me this one was good, but not great. 3.5 out of 5.
