It is still so unfathomable to think of everything that happened during WWII. This novel takes us inside the art world of the Nazi’s and current day as families are still fighting to get their rightfully owned art back from when it was taken from them over 80 years ago! Following various characters, this novel is a game of chess and each character has to watch their move.

Jules is a determined journalist who shoots for a nearly impossible position with a lead investigative report in Chicago, Dan Mansfield. He is known for his rogue but thorough rabbit hole investigations and most of his researching is now off the books and Jules is just the perfect cover to help him. Searching amongst the art world for stolen Nazi one single piece of art. It is a dark and dangerous world and requires the utmost secrecy.

Margaux is still trying to bring her grandfather’s art gallery dynasty out of the depths of bankruptcy, she will stop at nothing to get what she wants. Her father ran it into the ground with her greediness and she is left to fix the mess. Margaux often plays by her own rules and always finds a way to get what she wants. She is ruthless and doesn’t let anyone stand in her way.

Jules and Dan with the rest of their complied team think they may have some leads on the piece they are looking for. Margaux will do anything to get the beloved piece her father once cherished back into the family. As the searching starts to heat up, they all realize that they seem to be after the same thing and it turns into a deadly game of who can move the pieces quicker to find this lost painting that to some is worth its history and story and to others it’s simply the amount of zeros behind the dollar sign.

Thank you to Suzy Approved Book Tours for the invite and the author and Harper for the free novel. This was a great fast paced read, and I loved the history behind it as well. I still cannot believe the amount of art that was stolen and or destroyed.
