I don't like first person, present-tense novels as a general rule. It is to the author's credit that she is talented enough to write a story that is both such a great premise and so well written that I can largely ignore it for most of the book. And when it did bother me, well, women assassins serving the god of death in late middle ages Brittany was enough to pull me through.

I really liked this book! It was mysterious and had a good romance and bond between characters. I wish there was a little more adventure in this book. It felt like it was more mysterious than adventurous. I do love a good strong badass female MC. I
I do think it was really weird that she had to have sex with someone to heal the poison from them.. thought that was a little odd.. not really sure why that would be her gift.

I absolutely loved this! I didn’t know what I’d think going in because I generally shy away from historical, but luckily this just felt like fantasy. It was the perfect classic YA for me. Assassin nuns?? Yes 🙌🏻 It was suuuuuper long but never dragged, and I enjoyed every ounce of it. I’m so excited to find a new series to love! Definitely pick this one up if you, like me, are constantly searching for awesome “classic YA” reads!

Loved the character development! How she found her way to do what is right for even if it’s not what others expect or want from her.
