Oh, man, this was a hilarious book! And her and Smitty? So cute! Loved their zombie fight/evading methods, and the end, when she asked about there being those bus things, that was so cute, and the ending, well, that was cliff-hangery, and I want Unfed now!!!!

It took me a while to get around to reading this book. It wasn't that I didn't want to, but that I'm a wuss. So, I snuggled myself up on the sofa, with the Paralympics on in the background and began.
At the beginning, I was like "Eeh, just another book, where are the zombies?"
Then the hand hit the windscreen.
And the book turned upside down from that point on.
Bobby has been forced onto a school ski trip by her parents. (Lucky kid :O) Having just moved from the States, they figured it would be a good way for her to make friends. Oh, how wrong they were.
It was a really good book. While there was gore, the author knew where to draw the line. The book was set during the beginning of the zombie apocalypse, giving us a chance to see how it all started, and how the world falls to pieces. I really liked that... Not many zombie books give us a clear explanation of how it all began, whereas Undead did. Needless to say that I shan't be accepting free samples of anything in the near future. I thought thatifedon;j;nnnn
I apologise for the abrupt ending to that review. The writer was found frothing at the mouth, with bite marks on her leg. No need to panic.

Fast, fun zombie read. Looking forward to the sequel.
My kind of humour. Love this zombie apocalypse with a twist. Not since Buffy has a teen girl kicked undead ass with as much sass as Bobby... teamed with loveable-rogue Smitty, snarky Alice and... the albino kid. Awesome action, scary-as-hell zombies and plenty of laughs. That would make it a pretty good book, but the story line ties together nicely and there are plenty of plot twists at the end to make it a perfect read for the teen, zombie lover or just someone after a fun read. Can't wait to get my hands on Unfed.
Now you know I really struggle with zombies and steam punk. I am honest, I hold my hands up and normally avoid these books like the plague. Yet everyone kept telling me that Undead would change my views on zombies. So always eager to give a genre another go, I dived into Undead and rose to the service practically wetting myself with laughter.
This is a serious zombie book but with severe humour on each page. All I kept thinking of was Shaun of the Dead mixing with the teenage cast of Eastenders! I am serious. As I was reading it, Smitty just kept appearing in my head as 'Arthur' aka 'Fatboy' in Eastenders, purely because the humour was the same. Smitty was definitely my favourite character throughout the book, he is such a cool dude who is quick with the sarcasm. The banter between Bobby and Smitty is just hilarious and I loved their clever quips and retorts. It was fabulous to see their relationship grow throughout the book.
But this book isn't just funny. There is lots of gore and nastiness from the zombies which did scare me just a tad. They sounded disgusting and smell like poo, apparently! Yuck!
There is rather a huge twist at the end of the book and I got the feeling that this might be the first book in the series. You don't appear to get the full picture by the end of the book and it seems the cycle begins again, so I will be intrigued to where the story goes.
As for zombies, mmmm, I am still not keen on them and I am still not sure I would read another one. They are just dead and eat people - no appeal to me what so ever. However, Kirsty Mckay's writing really appeals to me and I look forward to reading something without zombies from her in the future. I have a similar sense of humour as her and I find her very entertaining.

FREAKIN HILARIOUS! Almost every page made me rofl and i couldn't put it down. CAN'T WAIT FOR THE SEQUEL! i recommend this to EVERYONE!
Bobby and her mom have moved back to England from the U.S. Bobby is on a school skiing trip in a remote area of Scotland and she is hating every minute of it. She's too American for her British classmates and she is ready to get home. But then all but a few of her classmates turn into zombies at a cafe. Bobby and her fellow living teens must figure out how to get away.
This book started out as a silly, fast-paced book with snarky teens. It was all good fun. And then it got really ridiculous. I'm not a huge fan of zombie books anyway, but I was ready for some fluff. Too bad the book didn't deliver.
