This book probably warrants more of a 3.5 star review, but I'm still stewing over the fact that MR. GIANINI DIES! What the heck, Cabot?! I was not emotionally prepared for that. Poor Rocky!!! Poor Helen!!! Speaking of Helen, both she and Prince Phillipe were so damn whiny during this book. There was none of Helen's usual sass, and I really missed that.

Overall, it was an entertaining read, and it was nice to see Michael and Mia finally end up together. The twin pregnancy was a bit much, but mazel tov. The whole Boris P. storyline was a bit odd, and also, how many evil relatives can one family have? Pull it together, Renaldos.

I read the first princess diaries when I was nine after seeing the movie and i fell in love with Mia's world and *swoon* Michael. Seven years later and there is finally another book about Michael and Mia as ADULTS. It was literally the sweetest and funniest book I have ever read. I almost cried, I cried laughing, and i squealed in delight at the adorableness of the entire thing. I enjoyed the MAJOR plot twist in the middle of the book and enjoyed meeting Olivia. So, maybe there will be another spinoff series that is just as great as the original. I can only hope that the genius that is Meg Cabot writes another book continuing the surprise at the end of the book! 10/10 rating

Out with a bang!
Great job, Meg!
I reaaaaaally loved it. It's like reading the first books again, it has the vibe and the great writing of those times, but from a more mature point of view and action non-stop.
While the Princess Diaries felt a bit long, considering we got 10 books in which things had a tendency to happen only at the very end, in Royal Wedding it's as if we got another ten books, Mia's young adult life, in just one volume. Which made me love it even more. I read it last night and it took me 4 hours to read the whole thing in a sitting because I could not put it down. For a book about a neurotic princess and her robot-arm-builder boyfriend it's pretty action packed. It's amazing how the transition between this series starting as children's books and eventually turning into books for adults is subtle but perfectly achieved, mainly because although we get a clean romance, the sex between Michael and Mia is possibly the best thing in the book, because it's never described but it is alluded to, with REALLY funny references to firemen and aliens and it just made me laugh every time either of them mentions their little role playing.
And the fact that Mia has a sister - to allow the Diaries to live long after Mia - and how the characters are portrayed as a slighty mature version of themselves is amazing.
I have to add as well the fact that Lilly is finally back was the cherry on top and how I really hope this is not the last we read of Mia and her new job as Queen of Genovia. I would read her entire lifetime, if it meant that this universe would still be a part of my life.

Actual rating : 3 stars. Bonus 1 star for the nostalgia.

Full review to come. I still have 6 books to read before new year!

Royal Wedding was a very sweet story, and a lovely ending for some of our characters. The book read just like the original series, which is part of my main gripe. I do think it could have been more mature, growing with the readers of the series, so I see some missed opportunities here. Overall though, very cute and fun read!

there are some really sweet parts of this book that make it a satisfying conclusion to the series. it's kind of emotional to see our Princess Mia all grown up, and I feel like a proud older sister seeing how she's matured. I feel like parts of this book weren't fully flushed out, which prevents me from giving it a higher rating... I think Meg Cabot lost the heart of this series a while ago and while she recovered it in this book, it's not exactly the same...
