This series was one of my favourites when I was younger and I read so many Meg Cabot books as a teenager (fun fact: she's my most read author which is not representative about the kind of books I read. Nevertheless, I'm happy with this fact).
I had this for a while after buying it but I was hesitant to start it, not wanting to be disappointed. Then the movie adaptation of the first book was on tv and I just needed to know what Mia & friends are up to. There was no need to worry, Royal Wedding is a great new (and final) story: it's funny, cute, relevant, touching and true to the characters and the past of the series.

I was late for The Princess Diaries books because I read them all last year but I was really happy to know there would be one more book.
And I loved Royal Wedding. It was good to read about Mia again and the new changes in her life.

Closer to a 4.5, but as if I wasn't going to love this.
I was skeptical of the middle grade play with Notebooks of a Middle School Princess, and trying to age up an existing series is strange in and of itself. This book pretty much just takes place five years after the entirety of the initial YA series and covers exactly what the title entails. Like all the Princess Diaries books, it's fairly straightforward and dives right back in.
The book is basically a warm blanket with a bit of an adult twist. It's decidedly PG-13 and is ultimately less scandalous than the YA the series introduced so many readers to, but the really interesting part for me was how it wove itself into the middle school timeline so well. The middle grade book actually happens in the same timeframe as this book does, and it means that, for an adult reader, the middle grade book almost feels like a tiny bonus feature. It was a neat little thing Cabot did that made me appreciate both books more as a result.
At the end of the day, you'll know if you're going to like this before you even pick it up. If you liked the original books at all, this doesn't feel like a needless add-on, and the fact that it's actually pretty great doesn't hurt, either.

Such a perfect throwback to one of my favourite series as a teenager!
so happy and so sad I'm finished with it! love love love
Same old Mia, with some adult taste. I liked all the pop-culture references like Bazinga, Chris Pine, and snapchat. It was sad to hear about Mr. G. I wish Mia could be Princess AND still write novels like she wanted to in high school. God, I just don't like J.P ! I hated how stalker bitter he was that Mia dumped him. Hello, he was using her for fame.
While mostly it was Mia having servers anxiety with everything on her plate, it was still a happy ending. I wonder if there will be more books about Olivia? Glad she got to meet Mia and her dad. I really wanted to actually get to see the wedding. I still didn't like the sex games, but I love Michael. TWINS! I could of done without Mia's dad and mom story line. But GO Mia's dad! I also liked the little snips of what was going on with Mia's high school group. Nice way to end.
So, on to Genovia I suppose.

This book was so good! I loved reading the Princess Diaries books when I was a kid so when I saw this book on Libby I really wanted to read it. It was nice having a story that closed the series really nicely. I liked that Michael and Mia were finally getting married. Having Mia discover that she had a half sister was a nice surprise too. I was leaning towards giving this three stars because it wasn't really wowing me but then chapter 66 happened. I loved that chapter so much I was laughing out loud. I'm going to miss reading the words of Mia Thermopolis so much. It was a big part of my childhood and it was nice to see her all grown up. She got the ending she deserved.
Definitely not the greatest literature ever, but perfect for reading on the porch.
