I read the books back in middle school now im in high school but when i heard a new book was coming out i had to read it
A very fun read! I don't think it had quite the same sort of heart as, say, Forever Princess, but Meg Cabot is always several quality notches higher than your standard chick lit.
I love that Mia was still our old worrying, hilarious and socially conscious protag from the old books, just a bit more aged up. It was nice to see her doing a bit less lying. The royalty ratings obsessiveness was just so Mia (although there was a spot early on where she was like "Michael is going to break up with me!!", which was quite annoying because we were right back in the tenth grade, but it was over fairly quickly, thank goodness). Some things were a bit of a stretch -- that Lana was still the exact same person after hello, becoming a mother, that Mia spent all that time in college and all we get is like two lines about her old roommates at Sarah Lawrence, that Olivia Grace so conveniently was living with Evil Parents and could therefore be easily whisked away by her Real, Loving Family. I think the book really should have had more of Mia's mom and Rocky. I mean, they were such a huge part of her life in the earlier books, and while obviously moving out and trying not to endanger them because of your stalker makes sense, it seemed like Mia spent proportionally very little time with them.
Michael was, as everyone is saying, adorable and very romantic, but I personally felt some of it was a bit cheesy or a stretch. I'm glad they got over the relationship angst/drama and all, but I think their relationship should have developed or changed somehow over the course of the book to make things interesting.
Anyhow, those minor quibbles aside, I thoroughly enjoyed the return of Mia freaking out and making impulsive decisions over everything and Grandmere back and on point, glaring and chain-smoking and swishing her Sidecar, and Lily still overplanning and being quite bossy

, and Tina still sighing over the ridiculous romances of the day. Definitely a fun and worthwhile read.
This was everything I ever wanted. Now I need another one.
2.5 stars. This was total trash but I read it with a smile on my face. I will always love Mia and Michael!
A strong reboot of the series, Cabot managed to revive the amazing spirit of a character I enjoyed so much!
Although it was great hearing from Mia again after so long, I kind of felt like the book was rushed. I would have liked to have read more about the wedding planning and the actual wedding ceremony itself.
I am positively swooning over this book. It's embarrassing. It's not even that it's an amazing book; the storylines were questionable and the ending felt rushed, but I love Mia. She is actually my spirit animal. She is even the exact same age as I am in this book, which made her entries even more relatable for me - except the whole being a royal thing. I laughed out loud numerous times while reading this book and swooned with almost every chapter. Michael and Mia are just so darn sweet and I am so satisfied with what I'm assuming is the end of the Princess Diaries series.
