I loved catching up with old characters. Although, the sexual content was weird and a little juvenile. Also, the last chapter seemed rushed and didn't leave any closure.

A must if you read The Princess Diaries as a kid. A satisfying conclusion.

4.5, because really, this book was the best brain candy ever. It took a favorite series from high school, and turned it into something completely amazing. Grown-up Mia is my favorite. Though I was fairly against the plot twist at the end.

This is the cutest shit I've read in a while. Everyone should have a Michael in their lives.

so, i LOVE the princess diaries books, i really do, i have read them multiple times, starting when i was abt 12 and i am still reading them now that i am almost 17. so i really really wanted to love this one as well, but i just couldn't. still, i want to start with the positive aspects of this book. (even tho there aren't that many)

first of all, mia and michael are getting married!!! after being so upset abt their breakup and everything and being so happy when they were finally back together, this was everything i had hoped for, also perin and ling su being a couple was kind of hinted at in the book before (maybe more than just hinted, but i wasn't sure) bt now 100 % confirmed, and i love it.
sadly that was kind of everything that i liked (ok the references to today's pop culture were as cool as ever)

BUT WHAT ABOT MR G????? like ohGOD i was so sad and i will never ever get over this, HOW can he be dead?? HOW
and the worst thing abt this that it kinda seemed like he was only dead so that mia's parents could get back together which is something i never ever wanted, they just don't really fit. also no one seemed to mourn him really? it was always like, yeah he'd been dead for a year already and nothing abt how helen and rocky are doing without him or mia or basically anyone? i also didn't like the whole time jump, i want to know how college was!!
what disappointed me the most is that mia was so different, like i get that she has grown up, but basically all she and michael talked abt was sex and i felt like that wasn't really her, also the way she wrote in her diary seemed so different to me and ofc a diary entry mainly focuses on what happened to her but i really wanted to know more abt boris and tina and lana and her baby?? and trisha and lilly and just everyone. the whole thing with olivia grace seemed really awkward to me. another child that doesn't know she's a princess?? i just felt like that was very unnecessary.
and ohgod then suddenly mia was pregnant with twins??? i remember when she mentioned that her boobs hurt, i already thought lmao mia ur pregnant but i didn't really believe it and omg then she actually was and i just felt like it was all happening so fast. i just in general felt like there was some big piece of plot missing. maybe the time jump was too big.

maybe my whole expectations on this book were too high, but it felt nothing like the other princess diaries books and i am very disappointed in it, and i hate that i am, because i love all those books so much and i will continue to read them a thousand times, but sadly not this one.

(EDIT) i forgot to mention this BUT LILLY AND LARS???!??!?!?! now that's just gross and wrong
emotional funny hopeful lighthearted relaxing medium-paced

It's basically the YA series but with a lot of unnecessary references to sex and alcohol

Really loved this! I'd forgotten how much I loved all these characters and so pleased Mia and Michael end up together. So much nostalgia and a super easy read. Brb while I go start from the beginning again...

Before Reading:

Reading this, I felt like I was catching up with old friends. If you are a fan of The Princess Diaries series, you have to read this book. Not a lot happens but it made me so happy! Especially to see Michael and Mia together again. They are relationship goals.
