This was amazing and hilarious and I expect nothing less from Meg Cabot. Add in epic amounts of nostalgia and it just might be one of my favorite books of 2015.
"Royal Wedding" has in it everything you would hope for in a follow-up to The Princess Diaries as a whole. There's plenty of Mia, Michael, Lilly, Tina, Lana, and the rest of the gang and where they're all at 5 years out of college (though with Mia at age 26 that math doesn't ENTIRELY add up, I won't fault Meg for that (much)).
I laughed and I cried and literally everything ended up how you would want it as a longtime lover of Mia and Michael (and the whole gang). But, to rephrase Mia herself... I don't wan't to complain about my diamond shoes (and this book is such a pair of them), but there were a few moments when I wished we got a little less of what we wanted because at times "Royal Wedding" felt more like fanfiction than part of the series itself. That's just a minor detail, though. Overall, this is a gem that I'm so glad exists. Read, enjoy, and fall back in love with the whole princess gang (including sister Olivia who is adorable and her books are great).

Alright, this was absolutely perfect!! I would LOVE a sequel, but if Cabot chose to not give us one I would be okay because this is SUCH a great ending to the series.
Mia is older now, she's 26, and you can definitely see that in how and what she writes in this journal. She's still a worrier, naturally, and obviously still with Michael - the title gives that away from the beginning. Of course, getting married and being a princess isn't easy, so a lot of things happen that keep her running around and stressing out. Cabot writes it so well that I was stressing out WITH Mia. She also does a fantastic job and making things humorous without FORCING things to be funny. That's something I appreciate so much in an author.
I was also REALLY glad to get more of Michael and Mia TOGETHER! I always felt like I never got enough of them interacting and being adorable in the YA series, but in this you get A LOT of that. I smiled so much at some parts and adored them together.
You could tell she kept in mind the fact that readers of this novel might not be exclusively adults because it does start as a YA series. For example, swearing and sex are only hinted at and not explicitly discussed for the most part. I WAS a tad bit disappointed that the wedding details weren't discussed more and we didn't really get to see the wedding. With everything else that happened, it probably would have been a bit much to go into full wedding mode, but it still would have been nice to get more.
Despite that, though, this was such a great book and I completely adored it. It was cute, made me laugh, and is a perfect ending to the series for ALL the characters involved if Cabot chooses to not write any more about Mia.

What a bunch of drivel. All Mia seemed to do was sit around and eat and watch trashy tv and care how she was ranked on "Rate the Royals." She seemed as immature as a high schooler... and she was meant to be in her mid 20's? Seriously??
Michael seemed to be the only one in this entire book with a good head on his shoulders. (Maybe Olivia too.) The surprise getaway to the Bahamas... exquisite. Romantic. Perfect. And their games of Fire Marshal and Space Alien? Too cute and silly ;)
I could just shoot Philippe, Mia's dad. What a piece of work. Not telling Mia about Olivia... keeping Olivia a secret for 12 years... I have no tolerance for womanizers.
And poor Mr. G! Did he deserve the fate that was given him in this book?? Read this (if you can get through it) and you'll see what I mean.
I did like the pop culture references, celebrity name dropping, and the format of journal entries, text messages, etc.
I've only read the very first Princess Diaries book... well, listened to it on audiotape, which was cool because Anne Hathaway narrated it. But after this, I have no desire whatsoever in the entire universe to read the others. I wonder if this series was just unnecessarily way too long and Meg Cabot should have shut it down long ago.
I threw this book across the room when I was done with it. Can't stand it anymore.

I really enjoyed reading this book, but I thought it was a bit 'flat'.
