Hey, my name is Becca and I read “The Midnight Library” in a day. You wanna know why? It’s like Quantum Leap in book form. If they make this into a movie, Scott Bakula better be in it.

This is a book I’m really glad I read. It found me at a meaningful crossroads in life, a small crisis at 35 – much like Nora herself – so the messages and gentle hugs it offers felt very timely. It’s hard for me to rate it purely as a novel, because it isn’t all that deep, and I sometimes wished for a more literary version where the themes unfolded between the lines and the side characters had more weight. Still, it definitely fulfills its purpose.

I saw someone describe it as “a self-help book in disguise,” and that feels spot on. If you open it with that expectation, it absolutely delivers. The plot is predictable, yes, but I didn’t find it overly repetitive – each story led to the next insight and built towards the author’s final message. So no, it may not be the most literary book ever written, but it is sweet, therapeutic at times, and it left me wishing I could find a Mrs. Elm of my own. 🥺

Would’ve hit me more if i read in middle school. But to me, it was a basic and predictable moral.

The Midnight Library by Matt Haig is a beautifully written and thought-provoking journey through the endless possibilities of life. The protagonist, Nora Seed, explores alternate realities in a mystical library, offering a poignant reflection on regrets, choices, and the pursuit of happiness. Haig's narrative is both heartwarming and insightful, urging readers to contemplate the significance of their own decisions. The Midnight Library is a captivating and uplifting read that resonates long after the final page.

4.25 ⭐️ I truly loved the ideas that this novel was built upon. However, I partially agree with the masses on the fact that it could have been carried out slightly better. I was rooting for Nora to find her path the whole time! This book got an extra .25 solely for the beautiful quotes it included; I underlined frequently all throughout.
