Finally got to read an author i've been looking for - library doesn't carry her books. I liked it! I'll read more of her when i get a chance.

I've read three Roni Loren books and what I love most is that it's never as simple as two people falling in love, temporarily thwarted by a normal level of everyday conflict. Nope. She's like - what if the characters can't be together because of BLACKMAIL and MURDER and POLITICAL SCANDALS WITH FAR-REACHING CONSEQUENCES and the MAN MUST HAVE A TRAGIC PAST THAT PREVENTS HIM FROM GIVING A WOMAN HIS HEART (but not, ya know, his other parts ;)). What if they can't be together until they either meet for the first time or are reunited years later at a TOP-SECRET SEX CLUB or a TOP-SECRET SEX INSTITUTE. Like Ali Hazlewood, you kind of feel like you're reading the same book with slight alterations. But boy is it entertaining.

Grant has it all going for him, a successful ranch, good friends, and a blazing hot side business. The only thing he is missing in his secret world of BDSM is his sub. No matter how many girls he interviews; he still can’t seem to find one that “sparks” his interest. That is until he meets Charli. Of course she is everything but submissive, or so he thinks, and now that he has seen all she has to offer he finds himself sharing more of himself than he likes. Finding a way to break down his ten foot wall and overcome the pain held deep within will be anything but easy and he only has two weeks to do it or risk losing Charli forever.

Charli is a tomboy to the core. Raised by her father and extremely overprotective brother no one could blame her. She is one of the guys and refuses to ever believe otherwise even if she is dying to be one of the girls. Pushing forward she puts everything into her career and an extremely dangerous assignment that lands her right in the arms of Grant and in the middle of a entirely different world. She is sexy here, wanted, desired, but most of all she feels like the Charli she never thought she could be. It wasn’t easy, but this 6’4” cowboy has made her feel every bit the woman that she is and falling was all too easy; but how could he ever love her back. She knew his past was painful and finding out his secrets made it only a thousand times harder. Now she has two weeks to change his mind or leave her heart in Texas.

Charli may come off as a tomboy but that doesn’t seem to sway the way Grant sees her at all. From the first moment he saves her all he can think about is her and that amazing body. Especially, when he realizes the attraction is mutual. Of course Charli didn’t have any idea what she was getting into but her stubbornness is a perfect match for Grant’s and once she calls his bluff the fall begins.

Being almost six feet, myself, it made this book a thousand times better for me. What woman doesn’t like to feel dainty and precious? Throw in a cowboys mind set and some serious sexy and you have one amazing male lead. Of course having all of that you have to mix in some southern sarcasm and that is where Charli comes in. This book was amazingly sexy with love right in the middle. I cannot wait to read more.

4/5 stars; whew i was so intrigued by Grant and excited to read his story and this book exceeded my expectations! he was every bit the demanding, charming, sometimes downright intimidating man i thought he would be but charli was a perfect match for him with her quick wit and take-no-bullshit attitude. their story was very heart-warming and watching Grant become someone who can move past his grief and overcome his trauma was incredible to read. it didn't come by easily but with his own strength and charli's gracious and accepting nature, he was able to say goodbye to his first life and find a home with someone new. this book has me excited to see this couple in later books like we saw jace, evan, and andre in this one briefly. i'm excited for kade's story since he was kind of portrayed in a bad light from brynn and reid's book which i thought was a little unfair to him.
i really enjoyed diving into grant's life and what led him to founding the ranch (wish we had gotten a little bit more about that). charli and grant's story was as enticing and spicy as it was tender and beautiful. can't wait for the next one involving.. andre's sister?? intrigue.
spice: 5/5 (yuh this one knocked me on my ass i won't lie)

The premise didn't make sense to me, and I really disliked the overprotective big brother. The love interest also was overprotective and I didn't like him.
