Intensely well written and heartbreakingly clever ...

This and the first book in this series are easily two of my favourite books of the year and possibly one of the best series in this genre for me (its up there with my all time favorites that us for sure). What drew me in and kept me engaged throughout is the lovely, angsty chemistry between the two MCs, the paranormal storyline and the vividly descriptive setting. This is one very talented writer and I want to read more of her books ... once my poor heart recovers from all the heartrending drama and intrigue. Be warned that the story ends abruptly, with some loose ends still dangling in the wind ... there is a third book in this series that is not yet published ...

After Fated, my expectations were high, but this one fell short for me. Isaac's character was still mostly abstract to me. Towards the end I got some kind of vibe from him finally, that little uh... lets call it a glitch, definitely helped me get a grasp on their connection with Hart. Too little, too late though. That doesn't mean I didn't feel for Hart when the shit hit the fan.

As for the murder investigation, it wasn't nearly as exciting as the first one.And I really missed Freddy, Hart's partner. They were such a good pair in book 1 during the investigation. She did pop in a little, but only as a friend to Hart, and I really like that they became friends after what went down, but I missed them working together.

There might be a third book and I probably will read it, cause I'm still curious.

I loved it! I love how perfectly it fits with the previous book, how all the threads come together. I love the hints we are given about what the future holds for these two. I even love Hart's heartbreak. And, of course, I love that Freddie is here and that she will stay in Hart's life.

The story is fascinating. the police's work to solve the murders and the supernatural aspects that keep creeping in their lives.

I'm really hoping that there is more to come. A wholehearted recommendation for the complete series.
