i want financial compensation for the mental damage i took from reading those horrendous sex scenes
because this ultimately connects, i really can't tell if i cared too much for the book itself. i'm just riding the high of the last chapter rn tbh.
easily the worst sjm series so far

In true middle book fashion, you are given nuggets of information slowly that build toward a raging cliffhanger. While I could forgive the lazy nature of the first book because of its epic ending, this book just left so many pieces undone and while it did build, it never took off for me.
ACOTAR fans. Read this book. I will say no more.

it's just SO long and SO much of it is not necessary and Tharion's arc in general seemed basically useless and a few too many uh...those scenes... that really did nothing for the story, but once it does get into the action, which unfortunately only really happens at like the 80% mark, it hits right. Gonna rank it 4 stars out of courtesy that I did enjoy it more than a three star though

good lord.
i am breathless.
definetely the most complex piece sarah j. maas has ever written.
couple of things to highlight:
- tharion’s character-
absolutely blown away how much depth he has. he is written so realistically, every single his action was made in a specific way that it portrayed him as an amazing character. not the best one, he is definitely selfish throughout the series but his actions are mostly justified by his intentions. he cares mostly abt himself but you can see layers underneath him. loved it!!!
- bryce and aelin’s similarities-
miss bryce reminded me so much of aelin and i loved to see it! i missed the baddie that will make crazy plans and involve no one (i still love feyre but aelin and bryce just do it for me!!)
- danika doing so much but being dead
literally she is such a mastermind, wish so bad that she was alive but her death adds another layer to unraveling everything she knew but couldn’t tell before micah (

I don’t really know how to rate this one honestly. The first 75% of this book was very hard to get through but obviously the last 25% really hooked me and I can’t wait for book 3!
