The Book of Witching was my October book of the month. It’s been a year since I started my BOTM subscription and I certainly feel like my reading rate has increased. Additionally, I have access to new titles, often ones that get a lot of hype or are authors/genres I wouldn’t have found on my own. This book was a pretty fast paced story that reminded me of Weyward, in the sense that it follows a familial line across centuries, tracing a witch's bloodline. I think that the fast pace was actually a little bit uneven, and the writing a bit clunkier than Weyward. I enjoyed the characterization of Clem, and the expansion upon a documented historical witch execution, but wonder if there could have been further connections or details that would have driven it to the next level. I am not sure if it was the writing style or my lack of knowledge of the Scottish isles, but something about the storytelling didn’t make me feel as connected to the characters as in other novels. I think I would have liked more background on the Book and the Triskele, and instead I felt the story was derailed when we learned Erin got involved with a false cult instead of the ancient witch community. Overall I say 3.5/5 stars.

This book was crazyyyy good! I could NOT figure out what the connection was between the past and present until
I realized that Edward was Nyx and the one inhabiting Erin’s body. Idk I just really appreciate the story of both time periods and the author entwined them very well without me even realizing it. I wish or hope there was a second book about Feyre!! That would be so cool to read!

It was okay, not great/not bad, just okay enough to keep me reading.
I think I would have liked it better if the modern day had been more connected to the witchy side of the past. Not some weird sex cult.

The Book Of Witching

3.5 ⭐️

This book was so intriguing - a girl wakes up from a fire, claiming to be a witch from the 1800s.

Told from multiple perspectives in multiple times, it centers on witching in Scotland during the 1800s.

Parts of these were so hard to listen to that I had to skim through some of it. Horrifying that these stories actually happened to people during this time period.

So much potential but ended up being really anti-climactic and disappointing.
