Overall I loved the switching and overlapping timelines but I found the ending to be rushed and “too tidy” as if it was just “then they lived happily ever after the end.”

This book wrecked me.

It is incredibly compelling and thought provoking. Both storylines in the book were emotional and the tension and dread throughout the book, with glimmers of hope and twists in the story kept me right at the edge of my seat.

But the story of Alison, a woman in the 1500 accused of witchcraft, hit me hard.

I knew how a lot of situations were going to play out when the point of view switched to Alison.

Yet it didn't make it any less tragic and painful to read. It was written so incredibly well that it tore my heart straight out.

And it had me remembering the past and tragic fate of people accused of witchcraft. The injustice of it all.

I knew the fate of Alison, yet sometimes during my read I was hoping with her, that everything would be alright.

If you want a relaxing read, don't read this.

If you want pain, rage, heartbreak with a history lesson based on the story of a real person. Then this is a book for you.

DID NOT FINISH

I tried to read this one and couldn’t get into it & switched to audio. I CAN NOT STAND the narrator swallowing in this audio. The “mouth noises” & that no I’m done.
