I’m not going to lie, that was so boring. While the concept is what got me interested, each step to get there felt excruciatingly long, predictable, and with zero stakes.

It was interesting but nothing jaw dropping. The multiple point of views made me like it a little less but I understand why it was necessary.

I'm not typically big on fantasy or historic books, but maybe I just haven't tried the right ones. I haven't read a fiction book about a witch in quite some time... I did really like this book and would definitely reread it (which I can't say for many I've read recently). This is the first physical book I've read in a while since I've been doing audio because my focus is shit. Audio was easier to keep my focus for me if I could do something else while listening, so picking up this book I was unsure if I could finish it. (I have many physical copies in various states of being read around my house from over the years.) I say all this because I had no problem focusing at all. This book took me in much like any book I had read in my youth. I found myself bringing it with me places so I could continue to read.
At first I thought I wouldn't like the switch back and forth between times/characters, but I think it was done well. I felt the characters had distinct personalities (which can sometimes get muddled in other books). I liked the mystery of it all.Even though I would have loved to see how Edward and Beatrice carried on over the years I didn't find myself upset about it. It made me realize how much I'd liked this story and the characters in it. I also kinda love the ending and don't for the same reasons. Lol

A gothic atmospheric book, more suitable for autumn. Two timelines. Witches. Witch trials. Feminism. All these topics that interested me.
And although the story really sounds interesting, I listened to it, and some times i missed some part. Then I go back, or I turn it off for a while. So it means that I was not drawn in that way.
