I was doubting whether to put 3 or 4 stars. I didn't expect the more heavy theme's like abuse and suicide. Those had some shock value. I think the story itself was very entertaining up until the reveal. I was disappointed by the ignorance of the sister. Is there anyone who would let their sister go through two deaths like that. It didn't feel like she was apologetic enough, I just missed some empathy on her part. I did like the magic throughout the book, it gave me 'Alice in Wonderland'- vibes because it was strange but intriguing not just happy sparkles. As for the love story between Scarlett and Julian, even though I loved Julian's character which is very caring and brave, I can't follow why he cares so much for Scarlett. It is explained in the end but to me it feels a little too vague for someone to just care so much from the beginning (clock house) to stick around if they know that it's all "scripted". There are more small questions that this book evokes which might still be explained in the next so I'm giving it 4 stars because it does pull you in.

Caraval to me is what I was expecting when I read The Night Circus. There is so much magic and imagination used when reading this. This book hooked me in but then on the next page everything I thought was happening was blown out the water. Caraval is the first in a series and I am already on Legendary.

This book really broke my brain. I was very confused all the time about what is real and what is fake. The romance between the 2 characters were wow, but the ending of them two kinda got me of guard. I expected a bit more for the ending. But the plot twist got me chocked as hell. I can’t wait to start the second book!

A generous 3.5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️
I found it hard to start getting in to it, with Scarlett’s character boring me. However as I got through the book with me lost at some points (most points) in the book. However halfway through the book I found myself really engrossed and loving every second of it. I’m glad this didn’t end up becoming one of my DNFs as I enjoyed it except from a few plots near the end.
