All Kinds of Tied Down by Mary Calmes

It felt like this was all over the show with no clear plot line. The timeline was inconsistent and jumps in time were not always clear. It doesn't feel like we know the characters at all - it's all very superficial with little plot and character development.

Initial thoughts - best I've read from this author in ages! Loads of fun. Full review to come.

Ok, now! I really enjoyed this story. Yes, it had some Calmes mainstays, the buff unattainable straight guy and the best friend who loves him, the gaggle of women friends who all just adore the MC, crazy shit going awry on police (in this case Marshal) cases. But it also had enough to make it different for me. For one, Miro was not your typical Jory-esque twinkish, happy go lucky character that had men falling all over themselves for the chance to be with him. Also, he was fairly equal in terms of badassness to his partner, Ian. He wasn't a Green Beret, but he stood his own, wasn't a damsel in distress, and could take care of himself. Yeah, he got injured a lot, but line of duty stuff.

This book didn't have one central case tying the whole thing together, but rather, a lot of smaller cases tied into getting to know the characters and their lives. Ian was actually off page a good chunk of the book, he's still in the Reserves and was called away for a couple of months.

Miro is crazy about Ian, but Ian is straight, so Miro completely misses all the signals that Ian might want more from him than just being partners and best friends. But when Ian finally comes home from his mission, and Miro finally picks up on the signs, it was explosive, off the charts hot.

One thing I really would have liked was to see inside Ian's head. To see more about how he had been feeling all this time, and what made him finally decide to go for it.

Also, was anyone else kinda expecting the serial killer guy that Miro visited in prison to pop up again? Maybe bust out somehow and kidnap Miro?

Still 5 Stars!

In anticipation for [b:Fit to be Tied|26090682|Fit to be Tied (Marshals, #2)|Mary Calmes|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1439427511l/26090682._SY75_.jpg|46031523], I listened to this to refresh my memory. I'm happy to say I haven't changed my mind one bit. It's Mary Calmes so there's always a little disbelief, but it was still hot and claiming and yummy fun. I love me an alpha and when there's two - even better. Miro and Ian are perfect for each other, and I can't wait to read more about them!

------------
This was my first Mary Calmes book and I'm quite impressed. At first it read like a buddy cop dramedy - equal parts fun, funny, and ridiculous as these two MC's get into one mishap after the other. What's also ridiculous is how much Miro is a clothes and shoe whore. But I digress because when Miro finally gets a clue about his "straight" partner and these two get together that's when this book takes off... and wow! Despite a very large cast of characters that I found hard to keep track of at times, can this please be a series following the crazy escapades of these 2 US Marshals? Pretty please?!

It was so long and slow. I think the narrator made this a little worse. It was hard to know who was saying what at times. And there were way too many secondary characters. I don’t know what I was expecting, but it’s not that. The story was somewhat engaging and kept my interest, but it was a bit boring for my taste.

3.5 stars. I loved seeing Sam Kage again, and seeing him with Jory and the kids was just adorable. As for Miro and Ian, I really liked them together, but this one seemed to take a while to get anything going, and Miro came across as the Jory-like character in this one, but I can't see a guy like Jory being a federal marshal, so it didn't really work for me. It was almost like watching Sam and Jory flip roles in this one, with Jory being rough with Sam, and Sam being somewhat submissive. Maybe I've read the A Matter of Time series too many times, but I can't possibly imagine Sam and Jory switching roles, and that sort of ruined this one for me.

I was also kind of bored with the secondary story of the guy who gets rid of bodies for criminal/mob families. I found myself not caring about any of those folks although I did think Drake and Cabot were cute, I could have done with that whole part of the story being shorter.

So good!! Mary Calmes is growing on me. Each book I read by her gets better and better. With Tristan James as narrator, this was just that much better. I can't wait to read book 2.

The US Marshals are hot! And Ian's slight neediness and submissiveness with Miro was just so sexy!
