Have watched this so many times but first time reading it. So much better for conjuring up the Christmas spirit.

Beautifully written (as with all Dickens).

Really loved it

A christmas classic that embodies the christmas spirit perfectly. A man completely changed and transformed through a close examination of his life and surroundings by the spirits, ghosts of christmas . If we get the chance to review our lives like Scrooge would that be for the better or worse. Introspection into our time on earth will benefit us all and our actions and their effects will decide our future. Keeping merry and celebrating with those you hold dear creates special memories that will comfort you during the hard times. Let us not wait for the right time to be good. To be moved by goodness and suffering is only human. It's in us all to be kinder. Merry Christmas.

I’ve never read the classics or Charles Dickens, it was a nice change but more challenging than I expected. It follows the films pretty identically so I was able to follow along, the ending was comforting and I loved the hopefulness of it.

Read aloud with my kids, ages 9 and under. First time for us all.

Creepy, charming, well-written, atmospheric. I'm surprised how much my kids understood this, being harder literature than I had expected (we read the unabridged version with illustrations by P.J. Lynch). My kids had some really good questions and observations, and they really made me think.

We enjoyed reading this together every few nights, with mugs of hot cocoa, a lit candle on the table, and near the Christmas tree lights. I really think it'll stick with us and I am thankful for the memories we just made.

A good dramatic reading of this book and I enjoyed it. It is one of the few books though were the films are quite accurate to the book so reading it didn't add much to my perspective of the story.

This is a book I read every December. I catch something different every year because I am a different person every year when I confront it.

This year I listened to the audiobook narrated by Chandler Craig on the Audible app. My 7 year old daughter listened along and was as equally enraptured as I.

Highly recommended for adventurous listeners 8 and up!

*This year my husband made me a leather bound copy of this book. Such a treasure to feel so loved through this story.
