I love this classic book by Charles Dickens.

Annual re-read on Audible - the Hugh Grant narration. It’s lovely.
Since I watch at least 3 versions of this at Christmastime, I felt it was time to actually read the source material. Let me preface this by saying I loathe Dickens. As a man who was paid by the word he is very wordy indeed and just seriously needs to get to the point. UGH.
Needless to say, if you watch the Muppet Christmas Carol and the CG version from 2009 with Jim Carrey (the scariest version) you will have the most accurately quoted and best representations of a Christmas Carol and not have to read this brief yet wordy Dickens classic! Unless you like Dickens, then go for it and enjoy!

Every time I read this book, I like it more than the last time I read it. The recording by Tim Curry is unbeatable, and has become my Christmas tradition.
It was so interesting to finally read this opposed to watching the play. It was definitely scarier and more thought provoking. I’ve never read a Dickens novel and I really loved his style and humor. As it’s a classic the language did cause some confusion at times (in my opinion). But I was happy to read it and it may become an annual holiday time reread.

Leitura rápida e perfeita para nos aquecer o coração nesta altura do Natal.
Adorei o velho rabugento Scrooge, e a sua transformação. Este tipo de história dá-nos sempre algum alento e esperança

I have never actually read this book before so when a snippet of it played at the end of Patrick Stewart’s memoir, I decided to give it a listen. There was a long wait at the library but I thought it wouldn’t actually be that long because it’s only a couple hours long. Nope. I still didn’t get it till mid January! It’s abridged, but I’ve always heard Dickens is very wordy, so I doubt I mind. Sir Patrick does exactly the stellar job narrating that you’d expect.
