Heart Filling Story

I not sure to explain this but by the end of the book “Heart filling” this words just pop right up. The story were short but got so much in it. And so so much love even when our H/h doesn’t say the word I can feel “love” all around. While I read I can pictured and feels everything the writing was that good. Each single books of Kerrigan Byrne always has this signature writing, the picturesque writing. Plus, the story is really steamy

Kerrigan Byrne is always an auto-buy for me, her stories are a little darker than most historical romances, but the men are always so soft and gooey inside that by the time the heroine has cracked open the hard, rugged, damaged shell, I have already fallen in love with them. Crying Wolfe, book 5 in the Goode Girls series, is no exception. Elijah Wolfe, an American with a bit of a potty mouth, meets Miss Rosaline ‘meek and mild’ Goode one night in unusual circumstances, has come to England searching for something that was once stolen from him. Unfortunately for Elijah, he ends up having to marrying Rosaline after unintentionally compromising her.

I loved both the characters in this book, Elijah, being American, was really interesting to read about – he swears too much and is quite the ‘grumpy man’ to Rosaline’s ‘sunshine lady’ but they complement each other very well. I think Rosaline really likes the way that Elijah doesn’t hold back from what he is feeling and is just honest and open with her. The Goode siblings have lived a life of tyranny and are subdued because of it each sporting their own battle wounds. I liked the difficult conversations between Rosaline and her brother – who I’m really hoping is going to get his own book – and the way they deal with each-others mental health – namely her kleptomania - and know what support the other needs straight away.

Old favourites from this series, as well as Victorian Rebels series, make an appearance which is always really fun as it’s nice to see how they are now living their lives after they got their happily ever after. Dorian Blackwell will always be one of my favourite characters ever, so to see him turn up is always a bonus.

There are quite a few of my favourite tropes in this book – age gap, shot gun wedding – but one of my favourite things about the book was how sweet and kind gruff Elijah was with Rosaline, and her kittens who she’d kept hidden from everyone. My only wish was that the book had been longer as it was over far too quickly but overall it was a 5/5 for me and even though you could read it as a standalone, I would always suggest reading the others first as they are all brilliant!

*I received an ARC from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

He was so hot at the start !!! he was so lame as the book went on tho, idk i think i wanted him to be fleshed out much better . The start of this book was excellent, sublime, outing any expectations i had, but as it went on, I didn't really care.

“Honey, that’s a bread knife,” he said with a wry, caustic sound as he easily swiped it from her hand. “What did you plan to do, butter me with it?”
he was very very attractive

well this wraps up goodes for me as of 2023,. i know there are more coming out, and im probably going to read those, but this one really felt like enOUGH for me. enough of good girls and enough of a rinse-repeat kind of plot structure. yea the tropes here were different, and the characters do feel very different from one another (which is HARD to do after writing this many books) but idk theres just something about them getting together at around 30% and then the final conflict happening at 70% that doesn't sit RIGHT with me okay. i need a plot (especially after loretta chase literally gave us the longest journey through albania

A rough American, a tiny whisp of a woman, a late night theft and a compromising position. All together resulting in a surprising marriage of heat and obsession. When Elijah Wolfe chased his little thief from his house he never imagined it would result in leg-shackling himself to a woman who ended up being more than he ever dreamed. Rosaline’s innocence and quiet demeanor quickly unleash a passion between them, and despite their best intentions the two are inexplicably in love it’s one another. As in any marriage, communication can be lost leaving doubts and fears. It is these fears that drive Rosaline’s compulsions, never realizing that the one thing that hardened her husband was the heartbreak of those same betrayals in his past. Only the need to protect this woman, whom he cherishes above all else despite any hurt, can bring these two back together. A great read packed with heat, intrigue and love.

Okay, Kerrigan Byrne, you win. I am ready for more of the Goode Girls series after this great next chapter.

Rosaline is the youngest of all the Goode siblings: those we've watched find love throughout the Goode series, and those long-hidden Goodes who appeared at the end of [b:Tempting Fate|54061977|Tempting Fate (Goode Girls, #4)|Kerrigan Byrne|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1620799563l/54061977._SY75_.jpg|84423906]. Ros loves astronomy and, after a traumatic and erratic childhood, has a predilection towards kleptomania. Wealthy American mine-owner Eli Wolfe (correctly) believes she's stolen from him, pursues her, and ends up engaged to her after being convinced of her innocence. And of course, it's a love match--but will happen when he discovers she's actually the thief he suspected all along?

I wasn't a huge fan of the appearance of a whole new batch of Goodes at the end of the last book, and while I still don't think that storyline quite worked, I'm glad we got Ros and Eli's story. Both had reasons to be guarded, yet by letting the other in, they managed to soothe their hurts and begin to heal.

As with the other Goode stories, I want more. Kerrigan Byrne writes amazing full-length novels--the crossover Victorian Rebels series being the perfect example--and in these novella-length books, we lose some of the depth she builds so well elsewhere. I enjoyed the moments outside the bedroom where we saw Eli and Ros falling in love, but we could've used far more of them to make this a more emotionally resonant story.

Still, it was a satisfying read and I'm glad she kicked of our introduction to new Goode siblings with this installment.

I received an advance reader copy from Netgalley for an honest review.
