I loved the concept of these books, but the plot dragged as did the romantic tension between the two main characters. This is a spin-off series from the author’s other books (which have better reviews) so I may give them a try.

I was disappointed by this, the second book in the series. One of the things that interested me about the first book was the semi-coded Judaism. I was interested to see how the author might continue to use pieces of that culture within the culture and background of the MMC. However there was nothing in the second book at all about it. 

Additionally, the pacing lost me. Both the book arcs and the series arc move too slowly for me.
