Sylvia has always wanted to find an old manuscript, so it's a dream come true when she discovers the Medici Manuscript in the attic. With Gabe's help Sylvia investigates the origins of the manuscript, not realising that their search might bring them closer to finding answers for other questions too.

This is book 2 in the Glass library series, and whilst there is development in the story I feel like things are moving at a slow pace and we're still very much in the introductory phase. Thankfully we do seem to be starting to find out more about Sylvia and her family by the end of this book, so hopefully book 3 might up the pace a little.

I was disappointed with Gabe throughout this book, he made some choices that I was hoping wouldn't play out the way they did. Sylvia is still quite meek, and there is a lot of time spent on her unrequited attraction to Gabe in this book. I'll be glad when that story arc comes to a conclusion!

All up this is  a slow burn of a book. There's enough to keep me interested, especially as we're starting to see a glint of Sylvia's magic. The book isn't bursting with magic or intrigue though, hence the 3 stars.

Perfect easy read with lovable characters

I’m a sucker for a series so I picked up book 2. It’s not thrilling but it is a super easy, quick read. Especially when rebuilding the reading habit. It’s a bit predictable and follows stereotypes but fun nonetheless.

Recommend for those who like historical fiction and easy to solve mysteries.

Overall, I enjoyed the story. For most of the book, I wasn’t as engaged as I was in book1. There is more mystery, intrigue and action at the end of this book that led me not to want to put it down. I wasn’t sure if I was going to continue the series until the ending.
