Another light and easy-to-read entry in the series. C.J. Archer's writing style tends to just pull me in and I only notice in retrospect how light the plot actually is. That is not to say I didn't enjoy it, it's just not a book that needs much brain engagement. (Which was actually quite nice. I needed something light.)
I like the feel of the world even if there is very little actually information on how the magic works. The characters are fun and the plot, although a little predictable, keeps a decent pace. I would have preferred a little less pining from our main character, but it actually wasn't too bad and she stayed surprisingly practical about it.
Overall, if you want a light and easy read I recommend this. Just don't expect shocking thing from the worldbuilding or plot.
