3.5 stars - I find this series to be a very cozy and comforting read. Books and magic and magic books, with a library and librarian and a gang of friends going on adventures that are maybe outside their socially acceptable station is just delightful.
As I've not read the other series this is based on/along, my enjoyment is not impacted by that. It's like a warm cup of tea for me.
