When I started reading the book, I must admit that it felt like some sort of hunger games remake. The story is (mostly) told by a criple girl named Nessa that does everything in her power to survive the call, a moment in which a child between age twelf and eighteen randomly get called to the grey land in which some sort of Fea’s live, called the Sidhe. They are determinded to catch, destroy and kill the ones that are called in revenge of being banned to the grey land. In order to survive, most children attend a survival academy to increase their (extreamably small) chances of survival.
Like I said, in the beginning, I found it not that enjoyable since I thought the book could have so much more potential than it had. But the more I got to the end, the more joy I found in reading the story, since there eventually came some unexpected plottwists. Therefor I will still give it 3 stars.

5 stars! Fantastic! Such a great evil fairy story. I can't wait until the next installment. Deliciously creepy, just the right kind of small Irish dystopia.

Really enjoyed this book. The dark concept and gruesome aesthetics were really intriguing and the constant tension only added to that.

I hate the whole present tense narrative trend that's been so popular as of late. I hated its presence in this book. That said, this was a fun Halloween read that brought otherwise creepy and disturbing imagery from scary straight to bone-chilling.
