Een Hallmarkfilm in chicklit-vorm. Ik kan vanalles zeggen over de personages en de diepgang en de voorspelbaarheid, maar ik wist wat ik kon verwachten toen ik het ging lezen en tbh het was precies waar ik zin in had.

4/5⭐️

Honestly, I did not think I’d rate this book 4/5 stars but it really was just a great read for the Christmas season for me. Yes some parts were a bit cheesy and the misunderstanding trope got on my nerves but it honestly made the ending that much more enjoyable and the “cheesy parts” made it a feel like I was watching a cozy hallmark movie.
I will say it took me awhile to really get into the story at the beginning but once it got going I was hooked and I really enjoyed the easygoing pacing. It just felt like a warm Christmas hug and I was lowkey tearing up at the end because of how happy the ending made me

#DNF at 60%. I really can not be bothered anymore. It's incredibly boring. Also a BIG problem for me is the sudden change of perspective sometimes. Within the same paragraph. It's confusing and makes the reading experience awful.

Everything a Christmas book should be x

Definitely my favourite Christmas themed book ive read so far.

Last month I read "Midnight at the Christmas Bookshop" by Colgan--this is the book that comes before it. Carmen's perfect sister (perfect husband, three children and a fourth on the way, beautiful huge house, great job, nanny), Sofia, has gotten her a job trying to save an ancient bookshop in historic Edinburgh before Christmas. Grumpy Carmen loves to read but she is not happy about having to live in her sister's basement, help with the children, or work in a dusty, disorganized bookshop. The gentle shop owner, two possible love interests, the camaraderie of other shop owners on the street, the magic of an Edinburgh Advent/Christmas and the affection of her youngest niece pull Carmen out of her slump and into Christmas with some joy and good fortune.
