"Every day we should feel, I hope, a little grace. And we can use it to bring peace in everything we do, to reconcile and bear quiet witness to our common humanity."
Yay! My Christmas heart is, once again, full. I needed this read to renew my belief in the magic of the holidays. I almost gave up my little reading tradition as I thought -- maybe I'm too old for these same old/same old corny tales. But -- no! I most definitely am not.
This story gave me all the feels. It was everything I look forward to in my Christmas reads and more. I wanted to be in Edinburgh, Scotland, during Christmas, doing all the touristy things. I loved all the characters -- even the ones I loved to hate. So happy there is a sequel. Bring on the can of corn!

This story immediately drew me in with the bookshop and Mr. McCredie! The sisterhood saga was so cute and you are completely rooting for Carmen, but then it started to lose me when it stopped being about the bookshop, the main thing I was interested in! The arrogant author appeared with his veneer smile. I felt zero chemistry between her and the Brazilian Postdoc. And then there’s a Witch randomly added to the story? Too much dialogue with all the children and the horrendous Nanny. It just started feeling a little all over the place and lost a few stars from my rating scale.

A very cozy read, perfect for a quick run-through, but if you pause for a moment as you read it you begin to have thoughts about classism, the psychology involved in child-rearing, and the “allure” of man-children. I’d happily read this again and again.
4 stars for a delightful book to read in December. Her writing made me feel like I was walking through Edinburgh.
A very cute Christmas read. Family drama, small town feels, and a little romance.
More like 2.5 stars. Couldn't get all that invested in most of the characters.
Cute I guess? Festive? These characters lacked depth, I was not invested, and Blair was insufferable. Also the writing simply seemed disjointed at times
