I thought I read this book but it wasn't in my Goodreads so I borrowed the audiobook from the library.
As soon as it started, I knew I had indeed listened to this book sometime ago. A quick browse of my library history says December 2021.
I very much liked the book then and I very much like the book now. It will also be great to jump into the sequel right after this with Carmen, Sofia, the children and Mr. McCreadie fresh in my memory.
Eilidh Beaton is an excellent narrator. She's performed two other Jenny Colgan books that I've listened to and enjoyed.
Highly recommend for a holiday book set in a bookstore with a complicated family dynamic and some lovely quirky shopkeepers.

I bought this book at Waverly Station in Edinburgh and was reading it on my way to London (then to Paris) but it was honestly magical to read about a Bookshop and a family bonding story set in a place I’d just been. Her descriptions and locations remind me of the things I’ve seen and I love the whole sisters seeing a new side of each other trope. The romance aspect was a bit baffling but the MC was confused about life so I guess that worked with the story as well. Honestly, this book will forever hold a special place on my shelf because of when and where I got it. So many memories live in that book.
Just not vibing with it 🤷🏻♀️ also Sophia’s children are a nightmare

Charming Christmas story
I love that, in Jenny Colgan's universe, the characters are liable to turn up in another book (not their own) as a supporting character. Along with some new, interesting characters, we get to check in on Ramsay and Zoe and some kids. Our main character this time was so miserable at the start that I wasn't sure how much I'd enjoy this book. Once things picked up, though, I enjoyed the interaction between the two sisters, and with the kids. And the crowd around the bookshop makes me hope for a sequel to visit and see how they're all doing.
