This book had so much potential and had all the cozy Christmas vibes I wanted. But the writing was just all over the place.
The plot(s) came out of nowhere I think, especially the plot of Mr. McCredie’s father. And it was explained in such a rush that it didn’t hit like it should have.
Plus Carmen’s love triangle was just annoying because it all dealt with miscommunication. And Skylar was nuts, especially always saying everything in a question?
Anyways, the vibes were vibing until they weren’t.

All I really needed from this book was a cozy and sweet Christmas story to get me in the spirit of the season, and it more or less gave me that. I appreciate the romance not being the primary or only plot point as many of these types of books do, and it gave me the warm and fuzzies, but I found the primary plot point (saving the book shop) to be under-fleshed out, the sisters’ arguments to be unnecessarily harsh and resolved too easily, and the children to be way overused and annoying.
Perfect cozy Christmassy story. Sprinkled with laughs and bitchy nannies I’d be eager to read more from Jenny Colgan.
I love Edinburgh and it was so nostalgic living in the pages. The sister relationships woven through were also so perfect.
Not the most well written review, but I loved this story!!

I had heard great things about Colgan’s other books, but this one was extremely disappointing. It was boring, repetitive, and bland. 2 stars for the feel-good aspect but boy was it a rough read. I found myself barely caring about the plot and characters and caring more about getting through it.
