I loved the book. There are a few different heart-warming stories between characters that were more than sappy and/or unrealistic love stories. (not that I don't enjoy those, it's just nice when some break away from the norm) There a story between sisters, a story of an old man and his past, the growth of the MC, and then, yes, a sweet love story, but not how I was anticipating.

Loved that is was based in my favorite city but I hated the wat whe kept choosing for that one guy and it kinda drove me mad. Also plot driven books or 3rd person written books are a no for me. I found out once I bought the book

This was an okey christmas book. I have to say Im a little disappointed since Christmas at the island hotel was so much better. This was okey, but I kind of hated the characters. Mainly Okey, who I found pretentious, boring and just stupid. When he was introduced I was really hoping he wasnt the love interest. Well... Nevermind. I liked the family and the shop, that portion of the story was good and I enjoyed it. So yeah, if this wasnt a romance, it would be a 5 star XD But nevertheless I still like Jenny Colgan very much.
Very cute & cozy. I found the omniscient narration less constant & therefore less overwhelming than in the other Jenny Colgan book I’ve read.

I feel like this book tried to be too many things at once and I think the romance subplot fell flat. I kind of forgot there was even a romance plot until about two thirds through the book. There's three plots really - the bookshop, Carmen's family and the love triangle. But the love interests are very flat as characters and I felt like we didn't get to know either of them. I would have liked this book more if it dropped one of the subplots and honestly this could've been a really cozy book about family and an old bookshop. It didn't need the romance plot and I think it meant the other aspects of the story got weakened.
