almost every character is extremely annoying and weirdly judgy, why does everyone seems to think that not being in a relationship or not moving to a big city somehow makes you a loser? I just don't get it, the characters are unlikeable, the plot is non-existent, the pacing weird. I guess there were a few cute family moments and a couple of quotes I liked but that's about it

Loved the setting of the story. I thought the profanity was unnecessary. I was offended by the dogs at Christianity.
Moderate: Cursing
Not a fan. A long book for very little plot. I felt as though there wasn’t really a climax to the book. It started out great and by the end I was just looking forward to finishing it unfortunately.
A solid four stars to this warm and enchanting Christmas novel with books, magic, trees, fake spirituality, and second chances. My only gripe is the wandering POV, which was a little distracting at times since it basically shifted into whoever was nearby in a scene, no matter how important the character. Kind of strange but not a big enough deal to go below four stars.
I'm not exactly like Carmen, but I did identify with the way she saw her nieces and nephew, her sister, Skylar, and the circles they frequented. There was a nice theme of the perils of consumerism and also of authenticity or lack thereof depending on who you ask. A nice cozy Christmas novel.
