Honestly really cute
Sibling rivalry, a little mental chaos and some lovable weirdo characters

Would have liked there to be a bit more of a resolution in Carmen and Sophia’s sister relationship. Loved the setting. Every book I read set in Scotland makes me want to drop everything and just go!

3.5 stars
This wasn’t my favourite book I have to be honest! BUT I did enjoy it and it was a nice, short, easy read!
SYNOPSIS
It follows the story of a girl called Carmen who gets made redundant from her job and ends up having to move in with her sister, Sofia, in Edinburgh. They have a strained relationship and Carmen feels like her sister is perfect and that by comparison she is not doing very well. Sofia gets Carmen a job at a bookshop, but what Carmen doesn’t know is that it is not currently making any profit.
Can Carmen help the bookshops owner to keep his shop running? Can she also figure out her own life at the same time? And are the sisters able to work out there differences??
MY THOUGHTS
In the beginning it didn’t feel very Christmassy but by the end it definitely felt festive. I would have liked a little more thoughout the book but it was definitely a Christmas book.
I did really like the relationships between all the characters and it was definitely a comforting read. However, at times I really wasn’t keen on the main character Carmen, she felt a bit whiny and kept going on about how bad her life was when it wasn’t really that bad. Maybe I just feel like this because I related more to her sister Sofia! This did make the book drag in places though.
I enjoyed the storyline and I think the descriptions of the shop and Edinburgh were really detailed and made you feel like you were really there! I didn’t get on with the writing style in some places, it felt like it didn’t flow very well sometimes. But the over plot was good.
This was a very quick read and I finished it in one weekend!
It was the perfect book to read in between the fantasy books I’m currently reading.
And at the end I got that warm fuzzy feeling that put me in a good mood and was a great first Christmas book for this year!
I think if you like Edinburgh, romances and Christmas, you will love this book!!
