Loved Ted’s quirkiness and loyalty to his dog. Makes me want another puppy.

I’m actually almost done, but I’m DNFing this. My own fault, I didn’t love Gunkle by the same author, so fool me twice and all that. I thought I’d give it a try because it was about a dog and something I read somewhere compared it to Racing in the Rain. It is soooo not even close. Here’s my take on this one: a the author is actually having a breakdown over his life and dog, and decides to write a stream of consciousness journal capturing his anxiety and publish it. Not particularly well written and not particularly interesting. I’m not gonna fall for this author again.

This is a nice quick read. I like how close Ted and his dachshund Lily are. Ted is very quirky and holds long conversations with his dog. In his mind, she even answers back. Cute but sad story. The line between reality and imagination is very thin. At times it's confusing.

This book is beautiful and hopeful and tragic, and I love and hate it so much. It’s very well written, and I will never read it again.
