Amazing storytelling skills have caused me to plan on reading more by this author. I have added his books to my never ending TBR list.

I tend to read a few books at a time, and this one hooked me so much that I set the others aside. I have never been to Egypt, but could picture it due to Bollen's descriptions whether it was the traffic, the airport or various hotels, the imagery was splendid.

The plot and mystery were well developed. The gist: Cate goes to Egypt to investigate her brother Eric's death. International arms dealers, LGBTQ, Egyptian military police, and NGOs are all featured in the book.

While an aspect of the ending kind of irked me, it didn't bug me enough to decrease my rating.

This was an exciting book, though it had several periods of slow burn. I liked the authors descriptions such they could vividly picture of the characters and where they were both in the Berkshire’s in the US as well as in Egypt. Key point, never trust military contractors.

A slow burn whodunnit which takes a number of logically deducted twists and turns, culminating in higher paced staccato unfold, which could have done with a few more breadcrumbs.  A page-turner set mostly in Egypt against the backdrop of arms deals and human rights violations.
