I picked this up on a whim on the way to the theatre and couldn't help but pour over it until the lights went down to the show.
Ella wakes up the night after a house party surrounded by objects she's stolen, with no memory of why she'd do such a thing. Half awake and hungover, she's shocked to find her crush Madeleine at the door. She's yet to have worked up the courage to speak to Madeleine but now she's her, in her flat! With the news that last night... someone robbed her house.
This is a book of complex feelings and budding sapphic love. The story perfectly captures that time when you're stressed with exams in the moment whilst staring into your ever expanding life ahead. It deals with trauma and love in a very kind, human way. It's that kindness that makes this book what it is.
That said, the book wouldn't be what it is without it's gorgeous art. The characters are quirky and emotive. The colours are minimal but all the more beautiful for it. That single colour, double page party spread? Utterly frame worthy.
This is a short read that sucks you into it's world. I'd highly recommend it for a sunny weekend afternoon. I know I'll come back to this book again and again.

This was genuinely such an amazing book. The illustration was unlike anything I’ve ever seen and it brought such life to the story. These characters are deeply important to me now and I wasn’t expecting to feel so emotional about the plot. As someone who actually had a similar reaction to Madeline after trauma, this book made me feel seen in ways other books haven’t. It’s sapphic, complex, human, and reminds people that everyone deals with trauma differently. I love the kindness and respect the characters have for each other and how much depth was given to them in such a short book. I love this book to the moon and back and I’m so glad I read it.

This was a cute lesbian romance. I loved the illustration style. The pacing felt a bit off for me and i thought the plot wasn't super interesting. I wasn't blown away but i had a nice time.
