Sweet but….
Ok this one was a little more of regular story, a friends to lovers romance, but the tag or premise kind of puts it all out there. Friends that are besties but begin sleeping together to help with s8x life. Yes you know exactly where this going and this author I’m starting to see likes 3rd act shake ups. It was still a good story, 4 stars because when the MMC Reese gets his revenge it’s pretty good, would’ve liked to see that drawn out a little more but I’m deep into dark romance so that might be my little dark voice wanting more. Ok.

This is the second book in this series and I was really looking forward to it but honestly it was a letdown. I'm a huge sucker for friends to lovers but this didn't really read that way. The fake dating trope kind of overwhelmed it and there was almost no struggle of "I like him/her as more than a friend but I don't want to lose what we have". It was more "eh, we'll go back to friends after we sleep together 1537 times" and I was missing the TENSION and ANGST.
And oh boy did they sleep together. The smut OVERTOOK this book. I am a huge smut slut but this was too much for even me. It was like there wasn't even a real story and it was just smut, very fifty shades. Again, similar to the first in this series, 100 pages could have been cut from this book, easily, as it was too long for a romance with hardly any content, where the characters end up together at like 20%. I need a little more conflict in my books, please and thank you.
Overall I think this series is not for me and I'm going to be done with it. It wasn't bad...but it wasn't good.

I really am a sucker for friends to lovers tropes, especially if a curvy girl is the MFC. I found her to be incredibly realistic and easy to identify with, which makes me love the story even more. The MMC is written with great care and with a need to show the FMC that she is special, even if the world is cruel and short sighted. Nikki Lawson’s book is absolutely perfect in every way. You won’t regret picking up this book.
