Emotionally vulnerable, cute drawing style, but I wanted more depth, especially re: mental health stuff

Rather than a coming-out story, My Lesbian Experience With Loneliness deals more with mental illness. Honest and at times relatable as a 20-something with depression, social awkwardness, and not much experience when it comes to relationships, this graphic memoir tells of the author’s life leading up to her first sexual experience with a female escort. At times I felt seen, at other times I felt a bit awkward with the narrator’s complicated relationship with her mother and secondhand embarrassment from her first sexual encounter. Though it did feel a bit unfinished, and the ending and even epilogue were somewhat anticlimactic, this was a validating look and I resonated with Nagata’s fear of being a bad daughter and disappointing her parents.

Absolutely gut wrenching somehow. It's not particularly graphic but the emotional themes were really close to home.

I believe the translation wasn't well done. It initially came across as comedic but became confusing and awkward after a few pages.
