pretty good. Madsion is hilarous and it's a cool take on reapers.

The quality of the writing was not the strongest but the story kept me going. A nice and quick read.

I could not finish this book. That's unusual for me. But it was just...horrible. I am a fan of Harrison's Hallow series - I think it is GREAT - and was expecting this to be of the same caliber, but no. It's like Twilight but less intellectual. Really. And the first book isn't even the start of the story. You have to somehow magically know you have to read a short story first or you feel like you started in the middle. Two chapters in and I wanted to kill off the main character. I happily recommend Harrison's other works, but this book was disappointing.

I'm looking forward to #2 in the Madison Avery series.

ngels dark and light fight over a teen girl and the souls of humans. A teen girl is dead but still has a physical body. She has to fight to save herself and those she loves. She ends up being in more trouble than she thought. It really is a teen book with teenager issues, I found it hard to relate too at times.

Probably 3.5 stars. It was okay. I like Kim Harrison's narrative voice, and so I enjoyed the book. But I was a bit confused by the ending. I am not sure that I entirely understand what happened. Nor do I feel like I have a really good grip on who "the bad guys" are, or what they want.

Will probably check out book 2 down the line...

Good but predictable story. The main character was such a whiner that I couldn't stand her although there were moments when she kicked ass while whining. All in all it was a good and easy read if you want a book to get through. It reminded me a lot about Fallen so if you liked that series you will probably like his one too. All of the characters bugged me they were all whiny or annoying or on a power trip. Good book but not great.

It was a very meh book. I halfwayed it because it was good enough to move to the next one but not good enough to be in absolute awe. Onto book two Early to Death Early to Rise! :)

Read this a couple of years ago and didn't like it. Read it again and really liked it. The story was interesting and I found some commonality with Madison on this read.

This wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. Pretty interesting premise, if a little complicated; I was able to breeze right through it instead of trudging along bored. Madison's continued idea that she is going to do whatever she wants without thinking of the consequences got pretty annoying pretty fast, though. I felt like by the end of the book, she hadn't really learned a thing. Maybe that's why it's a series instead of a stand alone, but if she doesn't shape up at some point, this solid 3-star book will just turn into a series of disappointments.
