I liked this, though not as much as the first book. The nursing home stuff was cute, John was cute too, but I'm glad Peter and Lara Jean got back together - they were meant to be.

“People come in and out of your life. For a time they are your world; they are everything. And then one day they’re not. There’s no telling how long you will have them near.”

I feel like the beginning of this book should've been tacked onto the end of book one, and this series should really only be a stand alone. You might be wondering why I gave this book anything more than a 1 star, I'll explain. I enjoyed seeing the romance between Lara Jean and Peter grow throughout this book, and I also loved the introduction to John Ambrose. In fact, I loved seeing John so much that it made what up to that point was just going to be a 2.5 book into what it is now. I hate love triangles with a passion, but I needed something added to what was a fairly boring book. I also think the ending was really cute.

Cute, fun, and an easy read. It's not life changing but I enjoyed it.

The story picks up immediately after the events of book one. Laura Jean and Peter are ready to try dating for real. The story follows Laura Jean as she navigates the ups, downs, and confusing moments of a teen romance. At times, her voice can come off as young, naive or immature but that's because she is. Laura Jean is still a kid dealing with all the awkwardness and uncertainty of looming adulthood.

Jenny Han excellently captures what it's like to be a hopelessly romantic teen thrust into the newness of a first romance.

Re-reading the whole series for nostalgia!

My 2023 options is that this is pretty good, though a lot of the love triangle stuff was very unnecessary. I’d rather have spent more time with Lara Jean learning about herself in other ways. Not as good as the first book, but I liked seeing how the characters matured and felt that a lot of the conflicts made sense for their age and situation.

The song girls always make me smile!
