Now that I’ve completed the second book in this series, I will say that there is something about this series that draws you in. I got through this book so quickly, and am already anticipating starting the final one. I love the storyline as a whole, and the characters are all so interesting and loveable! Jenny Han knows how to work the emotions! On the flip side, however, I just couldn’t get behind some of the plot points of this book. Lara Jean was too caught up in Peter and Gen throughout the duration to substantially grow and consider other options. Also, I think Peter really needs to examine his actions and put himself in LJ’s shoes, to see why things he did bothered her so much. I LOVED John Ambrose McClaren’s character, and wish that his present plot with LJ was lengthened a bit. I feel that he was too quickly brushed off and the “resolution” came a little too quickly.

I liked this one better than the second book. It started off a bit slow with Lara Jean and Peter figuring out their relationship. But, enter John Ambrose McClaren… I still love Lara Jean and find her so relatable that’s it’s painful. I wish these had been around when I was in high school I would have been obsessed!

I’m going to keep reading this series and it’s good, but I’m so mad.
Also the movies are absolutely nothing like the books.
No because I’m really pissed. Bad things happening to people doesn’t excuse their behavior. Like yea, Gen was going through it, but her posting that video to the INTERNET where it stays FOREVER was so disgusting and disrespectful and frankly, unforgivable. I know you have some heavy stuff going on in your family but come on. You can’t use that as a defense or justification for your actions because it’s not. And how Peter continued to be there for Gen, knowing that she did that to LJ just really is not okay. His relationship with Gen is not healthy. He feels like he needs to save her, because she has no one else to talk to or care about her. Maybe if she was a better person then she wouldn’t have that problem. LJ is learning to forgive them, and justify their actions but I’m not having it. Her trying to say it’s her fault, and that SHES the one who needed to get over Gen? Absolutely not. Peter shows over and over again that Gen is his first choice and I don’t care what he says, that’s how it is. His actions speak louder than words, and I cannot stand that she is choosing him. And he never really apologizes, he just says he tired of fighting and they magically get back together like everything is fine, but it’s not. He is selfish, secretive, possessive, disrespectful, obnoxious, and frankly extremely irritating. You say you love her but you absolutely do not show it. I would’ve chosen John Ambrose 1000 times over.

Wasn’t sure how I felt at first, but about 1/3 of the way in, I was hooked!!!! All the characters are so fricking annoying, but I love them all. It’s just the sweetest book. I remember the complicated and uncommunicative relationships of high school! No one ever ACTUALLY talks to one another. Lol. I’m so stoked for the next one!
