Plot or Character Driven: Character

When D’Angelo Castle elopes with the daughter of a high-powered kingpin earmarked for another, it puts in motion a set of dire circumstances that places his dutiful, older sister Dream in the path of a stone cold killer.

Dream is the fixer for her family, always taking care of everyone and, when needed, getting certain family members out of trouble. Faced with Dante Ware’s wrath and ultimatum—watch her younger brother and father die or take up with a man of his choosing—Dream picks the latter. She has no idea that she has just agreed to a match made in hell with Dante’s younger brother Damien Montana aka Demon.

Demon has the kind of scary reputation on the street that makes even the baddest, meanest thugs get out of his way and not want to tangle with him. He came up hard because he had to but he draws the line at hitting or hurting women.

Dream may be safe from any physical assault from Demon, but the assault on her libido and nerves is a whole other ballgame.

Beautiful and Ivy League educated, Dream Castle is a hot commodity. Her father had high hopes of matching her with a high-powered man who could benefit his business concerns instead of a “lowlife” like Demon. Everyone knows her reputation will be ruined once she hooks up with Dante’s younger brother. Everyone except Dream.

From the moment she meets a blood-covered Demon in Dante’s office, Dream is immediately turned on by the fine, green-eyed thug, but she soon learns that there’s much more to Demon than the thug life—much more hurt and pain than meets the eye. Hurt and pain that Dream wants to heal, if he would only let her.

Demon and Dream are judged by how they look and where they come from. They of course judge each other, constantly jumping to conclusions with equally lethal and humorous consequences throughout the entire book.

This was a fast-paced and entertaining read, the type of book that will make you miss your stop on the train or stay up into the wee hours to finish. It’s urban fiction, full of violence, death and mayhem, but at its core, it’s a romance with the requisite happily ever after that made my romantic heart so happy.

I can’t recommend this book enough and if you’re into urban fiction like The Coldest Winter Ever, or the TV franchise Power, this book is for you.

Oh the hype is real.
My only complaints is 1) this could have been 2 books and 2) Demon got off way too easy after that stunt he tried to pull with CoCo
