The level of toxic masculinity seeped through these pages and I soaked up every drop! I went into this book blind after hearing about it all over social media last year. When I realized it was over 700 pages I immediately put it aside thinking “ain’t nobody got time for that!”.

I finally picked it up because I had an extreme case of FOMO. And I’ve been kicking my own a$$ everyday since for not picking it up sooner! I am now suffering from an extreme book hangover and there is NOTHING that will be able to cure it 😫 This book has me over here singing Jodeci songs, rocking back and forth needing more Demon and Smoke. Do I recommend this book? Absolutely! I need all y’all to suffer withdrawals with me!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book! I typically don’t enjoy split perspective books but I find this one is well written. It’s very easy to keep track of what’s going on because (for the most part) all of the perspectives are being shared linearly. The characters are complex and deal with real issues that you find yourself relating to, or at the very least understanding. If Urban Romances are your cup of tea, read it, and if you haven’t tried it out before (like me) definitely read it!

The only reason I do give this a 4 ⭐️ is due to the (SPOILERS):

handing of Dream’s pregnancy. I personally didn’t enjoy how it felt like most of the characters were guilting or forcing her into keeping the pregnancy when she was considering abortion. The way Demon handled it was not for me, it felt like it came out of a place of possession and not genuine care. This definitely affected my feelings towards Demon but the way the pair were able to reconcile atoned for it!

All in all, I love this book and I would love to have more stories that take place in this universe!

This was such a good book. Demon was it from the very beginning. I knew he was gonna be a big softy for dream. And smoke and Dayana are literally goals. I can’t believe Jordan did her like that and I’m glad smoke and Dayana got their lick back. And then dream was kidnapped too like damn these castle girls are the soft spots for these strong ass men. Ten stars! Great plot and an amazing read.
