Rereading this as an adult, I didn't remember how bleak this one was. And how suiting...Laura is now 14 and they move to town from a warning due to a long, hard winter to come (COVID lock down). While they get pummeled with blizzard after blizzard, they start to run out of food (supply chain issues, TP) and they start to mill their own wheat and only eat bread (need I say anything more).

For some reason, I really adore how Laura Ingalls Wilder wrote from her future husband's perspective. The switching POV's made it very entertaining. And the scene of them being stuck in the blizzard, ahhh, new nightmare.

This one still makes me feel cold when I re-read it. Quite the story of survival!
