Loved this take on true crime podcasts and the presumed guilt of people involved in a murder. The town felt very small town with people quick to judge. Grandma was a great bit of levity in what could have otherwise been a too dark story. Listening to this definitely added an extra layer since the main story is broken up with "podcast" episodes about what is being uncovered.

Edge of your seat but so much violence! From everyone in the book! Too much for me.

Talk about a page turner! Tintera’s conversational style and frankly hilarious main character kept me entertained throughout the story. I loved the Texas setting and the little nods toward Texas culture, and really didn’t guess the ending until it was right in front of me.

A great thriller, with a well done podcast element, and of course… I’m always down for an  unreliable narrator ☺️🤙.  I enjoyed the way she fleshed out the characters, twisting the likable ones into their true ugly shapes, giving you pause with those you initially found not so palatable, showing you things aren’t always so black-and-white in a very skilled way. Also- grandma was my favorite. She’s really just the best. If you’re looking for a well done thriller/small town murder mystery, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. I will certainly be picking up more work by this author!

I enjoyed this a lot. I didn’t expect to finish it in a day, but it definitely peaked my interest. I got a little confused trying to keep track of the some of the characters, especially if they were really only used for the podcast portions of the story, but overall I thought this was well done. I think I’ll probably pick it up again to see if I can find the clues; I definitely suspected just about every character at some point in the book! I recommend this one if you’re looking for an interesting who-done-it, particularly as an audiobook to really get the podcast vibe!

I listened to the audiobook version and it was hands down one of the most enjoyable audiobooks I've ever listened to.

I loved the story. I love mysteries, true crime podcasts, and for all its flaws my state of Texas. This book was funny and dark and mysterious with a flawed protagonist. A quick moving story that kept me hooked in from the very first page. Highly recommend.

Looking forward to more of Amy Tintera.

It’s been five years since Savvy was murdered. Her best friend Lucy, who has amnesia about that night, was the primary suspect, but without any evidence she was never arrested. Now a true prime podcast is taking on the story, and Lucy returns to her hometown to find out the truth. Did she kill her best friend? Or are the memories she can’t recall hiding something else?

I enjoyed this thriller a lot! It’s kind of crass and the characters are sarcastic and a bit twisted at times, but I would recommend this book for anyone who enjoyed Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty.
