I think I can safely say that I must have a very big heart, because with all the book characters I fall in love with, there has to be room for everyone, and how can you not fall in love with Sarah, Sammy and Colt? It’s impossible, those three infiltrate your brain and take up residence in your heart from the very first pages of the book—I also fell in love with Clio Evans’ writing, by the way.

I already had a huge crush on Colt and Sammy after discovering them in Broken Begginings, but I didn’t feel like I’d learned much about Sarah. I’m in awe of this woman. Colt and Sammy are right; she is a true goddess. Despite the guilt that consumes her, despite people’s judgement, she stands up for her sons when it would be easier for her to fall apart. Although she is no longer physically isolated from her loved ones, the scar left on her psyche by her ex-husband means that she isolates herself from them, feeling unworthy of their love and help.

Fortunately for her, for Jake and for Davy—and a little bit for us too—Colt and Sammy are among those who don’t agree with her way of thinking. They see Sarah for who she is and how she doesn’t see herself. A strong, resilient woman, a wonderful mother and a very brave person. I love the gentle personalities of our two MMCs. They’re similar, but at the same time they complement each other. They’re generous and care deeply about those they love. They really are two pillars that Sarah and her sons can lean on as they rebuild their foundation.

With Clio Evans you can be sure that the polyamorous relationships will be well written. We can also be sure that the spicy scenes will be extremely hot, kinky and also very well written.

To sum up, as I’m sure you’ve gathered by now, I loved Stolen Chances and can’t wait to discover Hidden Roots—but I’m still a little sad at the thought of leaving Citrus Cove.

Clio takes us back to Citrus Cove, and this time around, we have Sarah's story. Sarah is Haley's sister from Broken Beginnings.

Sarah is a single mom and healing from an abusive relationship. After the events from book 1, Sarah carries a lot of hurt and guilt. She's trying to be the best mom she can be for her two boys.

Colt has always loved Sarah. She was the one that got away. Sammy, Cameron's younger brother, the hero from book one, is attracted to Sarah. He admires her bravery. This causes Colt to finally stop waiting around and do something about what he's feeling. Sarah really likes both of them but feels conflicted. And the fun part? Well, Sammy is also very much attracted to Colt. Lots of feelings start coming to the surface.

We have three individuals exploring a polyamorous relationship, and each communicated through the whole thing. Talk about grown. It was beautiful to see. I loved how protective they were towards Sarah and her boys. This made the spice in this book super hot. I loved every minute of it!!

Of course, this book wouldn't be the same without the suspense! We have a stalker on the loose. Also, Sammy is my favorite. He may be quiet and nerdish, but honey, he's a whole other beast in the bedroom 😮‍💨.

I cannot contain my excitement for Emma and Hunter's book next!!

I've been waiting for this for so long and it didn't disappoint! To be fair, Clio Evans books never disappoint me. I will admit that this isn't so much a standalone, and it would be better off read as a series, as you sort of miss vital details if you just jump right into the second one. They're of course explained, but the details of book two make much more sense if you read book one first. That's obviously my mistake, and as a result my reading experience was a bit diminished, which is nothing against the author herself. I loved the amount of suspense in mystery in this irregardless. It was done well, and didn't make me cringe like a lot of mystery suspense books do. I do think that this was more mystery forward with a romance subplot, but I didn't mind and I loved the relationship between Colt, Sammy, and Sarah. I need more polyamorous books in my life and this one was really amazing.

I liked the story in general, but I just didn't feel a connection with Sarah's character with myself or really even Sammy & Colt's characters, I definitely felt more of a connection between the guys though.
The suspense was only a small percentage of the story, but I'd still suggest you give it a read.
