lovely read, good but not great. This book follows a closer format to dani brown (w a slower building relationship that blossoms in act 2 and a near end of book big conflict). it includes autistic representation and a final all encompassing feature with the other two sisters and their partners! a good conclusion to the brown sisters trilogy.

Eve’s family has a tendency to baby her, so it comes as a shock when her parents demand that she learns to stand on her own two feet, prompting her to drive off and make her own way in the world. Jacob is unprepared for her chaotic energy when she happens across interviews for a chef position at his bed and breakfast. After a refusal of employment and accidentally hitting him with her car, Eve is cooking breakfast and serving afternoon tea while Jacob recovers, but they just can’t help their attraction to one another.
The story is sweet with a healthy splash of spice. It’s nice to see autistic characters with the same kind of backgrounds and support systems that allistic characters get while also not being shoved into asexuality as a result of ableism.
Content warnings:
Sexual content (on page):Eve and Jacob both experience attraction to one another. Eventually they give in when he finds a huge sex toy in her bed and uses it on her. Eve finally seduces Jacob fully after he does something sweet for her.
Ableism (off page):Jacob is diagnosed autistic and Eve is undiagnosed. It is acknowledged that they have a different way of thinking and that some people treat them differently because of it. A man at their planning committee meeting for the gingerbread festival refers to Jacob as Spock which was clearly meant as an insult. Eve stands up for him and makes the man look foolish in front of the committee.
Abandonment (off page):Eve feels shunted aside by many of her “friends” whenever she’s not useful to them. Jacob’s parents literally left him on a relative’s doorstep because they didn’t understand him and didn’t care to try understanding.

I absolutely adored this book. One of my favorite things about all three Brown sister books was that Talia Hibbert not only wrote the sisters as complex characters, but also their love interests. None of the men in these books were perfect, none of them had their shit together, and all of them needed to learn how to grow. I think Jacob's story was especially enjoyable. His frosty banter with Eve was so entertaining, and their snark together was hilarious and so perfect. Both characters had a lot to work through to be together, but the way they reasoned it out together and both decided that yes, it was fast but no, that didn't mean it wasn't real and worth it was great.

I enjoyed this book -- and the series. One thing that I like about this series is the conflict is resolved quickly and realistically. The writing was amazing, the scharacters were good and their relationship was adorable, and the plot was good. This was a great lighthearted and fun read.

Even though I think this book has the lowest quality of the trilogy, it was so entertaining and important to me that I still want to give it 4.5! By the way, by poorer quality I do NOT mean bad. If I factored out the entertainment + importance bonus, I would still rate this 4 stars. I just think that Hibbert could have leaned into the side characters and setting more. Additionally, the character development of MCs Eve and Jacob could have been more fleshed out. Character development has been a highlight of the past two books, but this book needed more monologuing and solitude for me to say the same here.
But like I said, I loved my reading experience. It was so AMAZING seeing a relationship between two autistic people! The safety and understanding!! The interactions between Eve and Jacob were delightful and heartfelt, funny and earnest. Their relationship just made so much sense to me. And so did the MCs themselves!! I loved that across both Eve and Jacob a range of autistic traits and experiences were portrayed.
The setting was another plus. Prior to reading, I knew this was set at a bed and breakfast which is already a win for me, but I DIDN’T know that it’s set at a B&B in a country village in the Lakes, i.e., peak comfiness and cosiness!!
I have just been so impressed with Hibbert across this trilogy, and I am eagerly anticipating the Skybriar spin-off trilogy!
Ending this review with my two favourite quotes:
"Only now did he realise that thinking so lowly of his own worth required him to think badly of Eve in turn."
"But that something didn't have permission to lead - not anymore. It was old and battered and bruised. It was toxic and told him such utterly believable lies. It belonged to a far younger version of himself"

Usually I hate a third-act breakup but this one did seem to make sense with the characters.
Another brilliant book in this series - a really fun premise and gorgeous, flawed characters. Really enjoyed the exploration of autism and its impact on relationships too.

Well, this was an absolutely delightful trilogy and ended with my favourite read (and couple!) of the bunch.
Eve & Jacob are two absolutely tender-hearted souls hiding deliciously dirty sides. Their sexy times are absolutely 🔥🌶🔥, I wish there were more than the 2 scenes because they were smokin' hot!

Fave in the trilogy for sure! I adored Eve and Jacob and loved their chemistry too, plus the cameos from Chloe & Dani were excellent little callbacks. Although I am not autistic, and can’t comment on the accuracy of the representation, I appreciated how meeting and getting to know Jacob helped Eve better understand herself.
