I enjoyed this, especially after the book I just DNFed (Lasher by Anne Rice), but I think it also showed me that when it comes to contemporary/romance, I really do need my main characters to be just a bit older..* (I think they’re in their early 20s?) 

I would very much recommend this one to readers who usually read YA romance and would like an entry into adult romance. It feels like the perfect in between.

In a way this kinda reminded me of the show Dear White People, with the uni radio show and just some of the characters and drama that was going on. 

*Unless it’s gay, those are healing my inner-teen.

Listened to it as an audiobook. I knew the happiness was gonna hit a roadblock, but I'm so glad that it wasn't drawn-out and I like that the author tried to bring dimension to the characters. To produce growth.

It took me a while to get into this book but once I did, I really enjoyed it!
This book, though, is how I learned that American Black English is quite different from British Black English. It was rather challenging for me to read because I was having to figure out British English, Black British English, African Yorubu terms and Gen Z slang. 
That being said, the story is really beautiful. I loved their connection and their banter. I was definitely feeling the butterflies for them throughout a good portion of the book. 
I loved seeing the fight for social justice and seeing a bunch of women come together as a united front.
