These were the ones that I enjoyed the most, 'The Ghost in the Bride's Chamber' and the 'The Signalman.'

I've always love a good ghost story and I'm a huge fan of Dickens so perfect, right?

Right.

A nice, interesting collection of short stories.

True, I found that none of the stories were particularly scary (hey, maybe they came across as more frightening back in the day) but Dickens has such a way of writing that it's hard to put any of his novels down and this is no different.

I would recommend this book to pretty much everyone. It's a quick read so definitely worth the time.

I have never read any Charles Dickens before this Best Ghost Stories anthology. This collection presents twelve short stories written by Dickens during his lifetime. Like most anthologies, there are stories that I enjoyed. Dickens' world famous A Christmas Carol was one of the stories I liked best. The Signalman and The Madman's Manuscript chilled me to the bone. Some stories, though, appeared to me as boring. I slogged through a couple of stories; The Haunted House was one example. Some stories were "ordinary", and are not scary at all. It was a tough book to finish for me, but it was quite enjoyable.

Like every collection of stories, I enjoyed some much more than others. Some of them were really interesting, whereas some of the others were slower and long.

I had planned to read this around Halloween 2021 but that didn't happen. However, most of the stories actually take place around Christmas, so maybe this is a book for reading under a blanket near the holiday season.

There's a real variation in quality here. While some stories are real good and kinda "cozy" ghost stories, some are dull and way too long. But, all in all, it's a quite worthwhile collection to get one's hand on.

Not exactly scary ,and you could see a pattern emerge in the stories after like the first 3
But makes for a decent read.

Some of the stories are on par with the master of the ghost story MR James especially The Signalman. Alas quite a few stories were not that good. Still an enjoyable read.
