Wow. Just wow. Bethany rutter really knows how to write a 3 dimensional fat character. For too long the fat girl in the story has been there to lose weight or by the funny side character but Lily is amazing. I saw a lot of myself in here and please please please let there be a sequel because I am not ready to let these characters go!

I went into this not expecting too much, just a typical YA lighthearted romance but i was absolutely blown away! I couldn’t put it down and stayed up till 1am to finish it. The characters were just so real and loveable, the plot so simple yet so full of tension and drama. The writing so exquisite. The messages in there for young people about being comfortable with their bodies, being kind, being willing to open up, being in charge of their own future, standing up for what is right, all wrapped in this will-they-won’t-they super adorable romance story! I could read it again and again.

I received a e-arc of this book for an honest review.

This is a really slow book to get into but definitely gets better as it goes go.

It does cover a lot of important YA topics including whether uni is right decision for everyone and expectations for your first time.

I need tying down. I'm honestly floating away on how perfect this is.

Melt My Heart follows Lily Rose navigating that everlong summer between sitting your A'Levels, and getting the results, and somehow ending the tale wiser than I swear I am now at 36!

Just like with No Big Deal, Bethany manages to create a cast of genuine characters across the LGBTQIA+ spectrum, and it's proof that it can be done, and done seemlessly.

Legit feel good hit of the summer!

I really liked No Big Deal and somehow this was even better. I loved the twists in the plot and while reading this book I gasped and laughed out loud at various points. I hope Bethany Rutter writes lots more novels!

Melt My Heart is a funny and inspiring coming of age YA that deals with the discovery of sexual identity, finding ones path in life, anxiety and body confidence. I loved the friendships and romance but I hope Cal found a happy ending.
